Why I'm Moving My Online Photo Albums Away From Adobe

For quite a long time, I've been 'maintaining' an Adobe Portfolio site that is separate from my main blog. I originally did this because, at the time, I was using WordPress to manage my blog site, and maintaining photo galleries was somewhat clunky (read that as painful). As I subscribe to the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan, a portfolio site is included, so it seemed like the best way to go. That was then. This is now.

A Day At Paignton Zoo - July 2026

Nestled on the Devon coast, Paignton Zoo is a vibrant, 80-acre conservation hub that's home to over 2,000 animals. From the lush depths of the rainforest to the dusty expanse of the savannah, every corner offers an up-close look at the planet's most fascinating species.

These images are from our most recent visit on 16th July 2026.

10 Days In Cornwall - May 2026

Images from our holiday in Cornwall taken during late May 2026.
We stayed at the St Agnes Beacon Caravan & Motorhome Club site which is one of our favourite sites on the North Cornish coast.

Courgette Curry Sauce - Thai Green Style

Like many vegetable growers, we always end up with a glut of courgettes. Far too many than can be used fresh.
This bulk curry sauce is inspired by the flavours of a Thai Green Curry paste that a friend used to bring back from his visits to Singapore.

It's in no way an authentic recipe, and Thai curry aficionados will probably scoff at the ingredients but, it tastes good so I don't give a stuff!

The Ethics of AI in Photography: Enhancement vs. Fabrication

AI is everywhere. It feels as though it’s being forced upon us by big tech companies betting on the technology to drive new revenue streams. One of the primary areas of growth is image creation—producing the completely false shite that is currently colonising our social media feeds.

Conversely, AI can also be used to edit and enhance existing photos. But where should the line be drawn between ‘enhanced by AI’ and ‘created by AI’?

Hacking a Fibre Optic Christmas Tree

Is your fibre-optic Christmas tree making an absolute racket?
It's no surprise because the motors used in most of them are absolute trash.

Perhaps it's time to make it 'smart' with addressable LEDs an ESP32 and WLED!

The Lifelong Pursuit: Why Photography Still Captures Me

There are certain passions that stick with you—the ones that endure through new technology, different jobs, and the changing landscape of life. For me, that passion has always been photography. It's been a constant companion since I was a teenager, offering a unique way to see and interpret the world.

Picture Frame Tablet Wall Mounts

I’ve spent countless hours designing the wall mounts many of you use. When I first developed the standard range, my primary aim was simple: to offer a functional aesthetic while expertly hiding those unsightly charging cables. But, could I do better?
